Announcements for the week beginning April 21, 2024
- Nursery – A Nursery for children 4 years and younger is available in Conkey House on Sundays from 8:15 am through the 11:00 am service.
- Hospital Notification – Holy Faith Parishioners admitted to the hospital are encouraged to contact one of the Holy Faith Clergy. Due to HIPAA restrictions, hospitals are not authorized to release patient information, and therefore our Clergy are often unaware when a parishioner has been admitted to the hospital. We take our pastoral responsibilities seriously and want to bring the ministry of prayer and healing to our parishioners.
- Holy Faith Youth Group Needs Volunteers –The Youth Group needs volunteers to bring food, preferably pizza or something that can easily be eaten on the floor while seated in a circle. The food should be dropped off in the Kinsolving kitchen between 12:30-12:45. Volunteers are needed for the following dates: April 28, May 19. To volunteer, please contact Sarah Stone at sstoneholyfaithsf@gmail.com.
- College Books Scholarship – Members of Holy Faith who are enrolling, or are enrolled in college are eligible to apply. The application deadline is Friday, May 31; applicants will be notified by June 15 of the committee’s decision. Students may reapply each year (for a total of 4 years of undergraduate study) using the Renewal Application. Applications are available in the parish office.
- Children’s Chapel Summer Schedule – The 11:00 a.m. Children’s Chapel will be suspended for the summer, beginning Sunday, May 26, through Sunday, August 11, and resuming on Sunday, August 18. The 8:30 a.m. Children’s Chapel will continue as usual each Sunday during the summer months.
- Youth Group Meets April 28! – What’s in a name? Who gave you yours? Does it have a special meaning? Come Sunday and find out!! (and bring a baby picture of yourself if you have one!!) We will eat, we will play goofy games designed to help us figure out how important it is to have a name – and maybe even name our own group!! How can you resist??!!??? Join Thérèse and Pam in the Kinsolving Room at 12:30 (or immediately after the 11:00 a.m. service). Parents – pick up is at 1:45 p.m. (Let us know if transportation is needed). As always, invite a friend and See you Sunday!!!
- Upcoming Adult Forum – On Sunday, April 28, at the 10:00 a.m. Forum in Palen Hall, Fr. Robin will lead a discussion on the same-sex marriage and blessing liturgies available for trial use.
- Upcoming Evensong – An Evensong on the Eve of the Feast of the Ascension, will be held on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. Please join us for an evening of sung prayers and anthems in an evening service unique to the Anglican tradition. A festive reception will follow in Palen Hall.
- Vestry Check-in Calls – In the months of April and May, be on the lookout for a call from one of your Vestry members. We will be making social calls to all Holy Faith parishioners who are in the parish directory to check in, see how you are doing and what needs, if any, you want communicated to the parish. We care about each of you and, while we may know some of you well, there are others that we don’t know well or have never met at all. There is nothing like a personal connection to bring us all closer to each other. We look forward to having a chat with each of you soon.
- Attention Book Lovers – Please check out the sale books located in Palen hallway across from the choir room. Many books are available, including The Pilgrim’s Progress, All God’s Creatures and Lost in Wonder. $1 donation to the library is greatly appreciated!
- Summer Seminarian in June – Holy Faith will welcome Tom Wilcox from Trinity Theological College in Bristol, England for the month of June. Tom, whose wife Rosa is from Santa Fe, will shadow the priests, attend meetings and discussion groups, serve at the altar, lead some of the Daily Offices, preach at least one Sunday and one weekday, all as part of his practical ministry placement. Last summer Tom fulfilled his placement at St. Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol, where Fr. Robin served as Associate Vicar from 2002 to 2005. While here, Tom could benefit from the use of a car and accommodation for his family, including three-year old daughter Poema. If you have a spare car to loan or a casita to offer, please be in touch with Fr. Robin. Also, Tom is seeking funding from U.K grants and scholarships, but if you would like to help underwrite his travel expenses of approximately $3,000, you may send a check indicating “Seminarian” on the notation line.
- Twice Blessed Seeking Donations – We welcome your contributions of used or new items for the Twice Blessed portion of the St. Nicholas Bazaar. Please keep us in mind as you clean out garages, closets, etc. Items may be left in the Guild room behind Palen Hall or taken upstairs and left in the Twice Blessed room at the end of the hall in Conkey House. If you need help with pick up, please contact Cathy Gronquist (cathy@gronquist.org or 505-231-4557). Thank you all for your support of the Women’s Guild.
- Altar Flower Dedications – Flower dedications are a wonderful way to show gratitude for or honor loved ones. When altar flowers are dedicated, the names and messages are listed in our worshipcast bulletin which is available for those worshiping in person or those joining in worship online. The suggested donation is $100. Contact the parish office at 505-982-4447 or donna@holyfaithchurchsf.org if you would like to reserve a Sunday for your flower dedication.
- Faith Family is Here – Faith Family is a parishioner-led ministry by and for the people of Holy Faith. If you are in need of assistance – typically rides to church or doctor appointments – please let us know. We are also available for visits, check ins, cards, and coffee dates! For assistance during the month of March, contact Kathleen Croxton, kathleencrox@gmail.com, (505) 204-1708. For assistance in April, contact Rhonda Black, rsb125@gmail.com, (505) 920-1271. Please let Mother Lynn know if you are interested in helping with this ministry, (505) 412-0506. We can always use more helping hands!
- Community Volunteers at the Penitentiary – Parishioners from Holy Faith are invited to join this group of volunteers at the prison. There are usually two or three volunteers that go to the prison on one evening per week and each person goes just once per month, if there are enough volunteers. These Bible studies and hymn sings last 1 1/2 hours. They like to be able to sing if possible. Piano players are highly prized. This group was started by St. Bede’s with members from 1st Presbyterian, Zia Methodist, United Church and probably others after the 1980 riot. For more information, contact Elaine Gere at 505-920-2608.
- Beware of Gift Card Scam – This scam continues to target churches across the country. Scam emails designed to look as though they have been sent by the rector or bishop requesting “a favor” prey upon the loyalty and generosity of church members. Do not be fooled – legitimate emails from Fr. Robin always originate from fr.robin@holyfaithchurchsf.org. Fr. Robin will never email you asking for a gift card. The only email address that Bishop Michael will use for DRG business is bishophunn@dioceserg.org.
- Recycle for Sight and Hearing Aid Recycling Program – The Capital City Lions Club collects used eyeglasses and hearing aids for distribution to those in need. If you have old or no longer needed eyeglasses, sunglasses or hearing aids, please donate them in the collection box that is near the back entry to Palen Hall or phone Sylvia Stevens at 946-0473 for more information. “Where there is a need, there is a Lion.”
